2011 Master and PhD Thesis Awards

The third CONET Master and PhD Thesis Awards were handed over at EWSN 2011. Theses in the area of Cooperating Objects that were completed during the year 2011 at an official European university were assessed by a jury of CONET members with respect to scientific originality, scientific significance for the field of Cooperating Objects, quality of the presentation and potential for practical application.

PhD Academic Award

Pedro Pereira Rodrigues from the University of Porto, Portugal for his PhD thesis titled undefinedLearning from Ubiquitous Data Streams: Clustering Data and Data Sources.

PhD Industrial Award

Ivan Maza from the University of Seville, Spain for his PhD thesis titled undefinedDistributed Architecture for the Cooperation of Multiple Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in Civil Applications.

Academic MSc Award

Maissa BenJamaa from the National school of Engineers of Sfax, Tunisia with joint co-supervision with CISTER-ISEP, Portugal for his MSc thesis titled "An Experimental Study for the Performance Evaluation and Optimization of Link Quality Estimators in Wireless Sensor Networks".

PhD Honourable Mention

Besides these awards, the jury decided to give a Honourable Mention to Ruan He from TELECOM ParisTech for his PhD thesis titled "Security Architecture and Mechanisms for Self-protection of Pervasive Systems" due to its industrial relevance.
