Advancing Research Activities within CONET Community
The CONET project will use different types of instruments and activities to promote and advance Collaborative Research within the Cooperating Objects Network of Excellence, e.g. by building CONET Research Clusters, joint Seminars, industry-research joint workshops, etc.
The main focus of organizing CONET research activities will remain in steering research by tightening at the same time the relationship with the industry. In recent years, there has been an increased interest from the industry on specific topics that deal with Cooperating Object research, as well as a flourishing of new companies that deal with these topics. It is, therefore, necessary that a dialogue and fruitful interactions between academia and the industry take place in a coordinated manner. This will ensure that academic research will be influenced by the real needs from the industry and, at the same time, companies can benefit from advanced solutions and research prototypes developed by academic institutions, as well as from state-of-the-art expertise on relevant topics.
Therefore, the operational goals are increased focus on key issues (industry and fundamental), rapid dissemination of knowledge and research steering. As for rapid dissemination of knowledge, the goal is to let the community rapidly react to (and better foresee) new issues and embrace new approaches. This is particularly critical in the area of Cooperating Objects since the domain is evolving very rapidly with very important companies playing a crucial role in driving the market.
